We don’t often get machines in like this. This is a current-generation Concept 2 RowErg in all-black with yellow accents — the updated model released under the RowErg name in 2021 — with under 5,000 metres on the PM5 monitor. To put that in perspective: a committed home rower doing 5,000m per day would need three and a half years to reach what many used machines come in at. This one has done barely a single week’s worth of sessions.

Concept 2 rebranded and updated their flagship rowing ergometer in 2021, renaming it the RowErg. The updated generation brought a refreshed frame design, the bold black-and-yellow colourway now synonymous with the brand, and refined finishing throughout.

Air Resistance. No Compromises.
The RowErg uses a flywheel air resistance system that responds directly and immediately to your effort. There is no motor, no electromagnetic brake, no resistance level to dial in before you row. Pull harder and the resistance increases. Pull easier and it backs off. It is the most natural and honest resistance system in any cardio machine, and it’s why Concept 2 has been the choice of elite rowing programs for over 40 years.
The damper (settings 1–10) adjusts the airflow into the flywheel housing, changing the feel of each stroke — not the difficulty. A low damper setting (3–5) suits most recreational and fitness rowers and mimics a sleek racing shell. A higher setting (6–10) mimics a wider, heavier boat and increases the load per stroke. Neither is harder or easier — they’re just different feels. Most users settle between 4 and 6.
PM5 Monitor — Track Everything
The PM5 is Concept 2’s current generation performance monitor and one of the best data displays in any piece of cardio equipment at any price point. It tracks:
