Under 100,000 metres on the PM5 — on a machine engineered to run for tens of millions of metres in commercial environments — means this rower has barely been introduced to work. What Makes the Model E Different
The Model E is Concept 2’s premium RowErg — built for serious users and commercial environments where the details matter. There are two things that set it apart from the standard Model D or current RowErg:
1. Elevated Frame
The Model E’s frame raises the seat to approximately 51 cm off the ground — compared to around 35 cm on the Model D. That extra height makes a significant difference for getting on and off the machine, especially after hard sessions when your legs are cooked, for taller athletes, for older users, and for anyone with knee, hip, or lower back issues that make deep bending uncomfortable. Once you’ve rowed a Model E, the lower Model D feels like you’re getting off the floor every time.
2. Heavier, More Rigid Frame
The Model E uses heavier-gauge steel construction throughout, giving it a noticeably more planted, solid feel during rowing. At approximately 32 kg (vs 26 kg for the Model D), it simply doesn’t move around on the floor. This matters in commercial settings and matters to any serious home gym user who wants their equipment to feel substantial.
Everything else — the air resistance flywheel, the PM5 monitor, the stainless steel chain, the damper system, the Bluetooth and ANT+ connectivity — is identical to the standard RowErg. You get the same world-class rowing performance in a more premium, more accessible package.
The PM5 Monitor
The PM5 is Concept 2’s current performance monitor — the same unit fitted to every new RowErg, SkiErg, and BikeErg sold today. It tracks everything a serious rower needs: split time per 500m, pace, watts, calories, stroke rate, heart rate (with compatible Bluetooth or ANT+ chest strap), and total distance. It connects wirelessly to Concept 2’s free ErgData app and online training logbook, as well as Garmin Connect, Polar Flow, Kinomap, and a wide range of other training platforms. Built-in workouts, interval programs, and race mode are all available on-device without needing a phone or app.
What Our Inspection Covered
Before any machine is listed by Concept 2 Fitness it goes through a full assessment. For this Model E we checked and confirmed:
- Chain: clean, properly lubricated, no stiffness, no visible wear — consistent with sub-100,000m use
- Flywheel & Damper: spins freely with no noise or drag, damper functions correctly across all 10 settings
- Monorail: seat rolls end-to-end smoothly with no catching, scraping, or resistance
- Seat: structurally sound, foam in good condition, no cracks or deformation
- Handle & Bungee: handle grip is firm and clean, bungee recoil is strong and consistent
- Footrests: both sides adjust cleanly through all positions, velcro straps are secure

- PM5 Monitor: powers on, all displays functional, Bluetooth connectivity confirmed

Who Is This For?
