Used Concept 2 BikeErg – fully serviced & tested. Same performance as new at a fraction of the price. Australia-wide delivery available.

Description

A used Concept 2 BikeErg for sale in Australia, in black with the PM5, showing around 50,000 metres. It is the quietest piece of cardio equipment Concept2 makes, which matters more than it sounds if the machine is going in a flat rather than a garage.

What we checked before it got a price

  • Flywheel spins free, damper moves through all ten settings.
  • Pedal threads and crank arms checked for play.
  • Seat post and saddle rail checked, clamp holds under load.
  • Handlebar adjustment checked through its full range.
  • Both stabiliser feet inspected, machine sits level.
  • Frame and welds checked for cracks.
  • PM5 powers on, pairs over Bluetooth and ANT+, reads a ride correctly.
  • Rode it before listing.

What makes the BikeErg different

It is the same flywheel and the same monitor as a RowErg, bolted to a frame you pedal. That sounds obvious and it produces something you cannot get from a spin bike: a resistance curve that builds with your effort rather than being set by a knob or a motor, and numbers you can compare against everyone else on the Concept2 logbook.

You can also change position while you ride. Hands on the tops, hands in the drops, standing, or sitting upright to read, all without breaking rhythm. On a spin bike you are locked into one position for the session.

Why grade B is the right buy here

Grade B means cosmetic marks and nothing else. On a bike those are usually scuffs on the frame from being moved and a worn patch on the saddle where someone sat. None of it touches the drivetrain, and the drivetrain is the expensive part.

What $1,399 buys against new

A new BikeErg is around $2,145 to $2,360 in Australia depending on the retailer. At $1,399 this is $746 under the lower figure, for a machine with 50,000 metres on it, which is a small fraction of what the flywheel and bearings are rated for. The new versus used page covers the whole range against new.

Monitor PM5, Bluetooth and ANT+
Odometer Approximately 50,000 metres
Grade B, cosmetic marks only
Finish Black with lime accents
Resistance Air flywheel, damper 1 to 10
Machine weight Approximately 29 kg
Storage Frame separates for transport

Delivery and warranty

Australia-wide delivery quoted at checkout, or collect from the Perth workshop by appointment and ride it before you pay. The BikeErg is the easiest of the range to move, because the frame splits. See the delivery page for freight and timing.

Thirty days on working parts and seven days to return it if we described the marks wrongly. Both terms are short and written in full on the warranty page. The inspection above is the same bench every machine passes over, documented on the grading page.

BikeErg or a spin bike

A spin bike gives you a resistance knob and a class. A BikeErg gives you a power curve that responds to effort and numbers that mean the same thing to everyone else who owns one, which is why rowing clubs and CrossFit boxes use them for testing rather than training blind.

It is also quieter and smaller than most indoor bikes, and it needs no power point. Concept2 sets out the specifications on its BikeErg page, including the seat and handlebar adjustment ranges if you are checking whether it will fit a shorter or taller rider in the house.

If you are comparing it against a rower, the difference is time: most people can hold a rower for thirty minutes and a BikeErg for sixty.

Graded B. Around 50,000 metres, PM5 tested, cosmetic marks only. Quiet enough for an apartment.
